The Retreat.
We are all squirrels, looking for our nuts. Even if we know that the nut’s taste won’t change after decorating it, we do it anyway, because that’s the ‘in’ thing.
The other day, I went to my relative’s new place, which happens to be a lavish society. It had all the facilities you aspire for, as a house purchaser. We were invited over a dinner, which was lavish as well. So, post dinner, I asked my brother who lives there, to get me a round of his ‘flawless’ residence. “This is the gym, the clubhouse, lawn-1 and that is….. Di?” He found that I had found something better than his blabbering. I went to the children’s swings and literally shoved off a kid, who started crying though, and started swinging.
“Well, it might not be strong enough” he said. “If it isn’t, it doesn’t matter if I get myself damaged by a swing” I replied.
Wind in, wind out.
That is exactly when it hit me like a meteor. The question. “Manasvi, WHAT IS THE POINT?” It asked. “If these humans wanted to cut the plants and slaughter the land for growing more plants and calling it an ‘Eco-friendly‘ society which is surrounded by ‘Greenery‘, WHAT IS THE POINT?” I got off the swing, went to a bench and simply looked around. There was a swimming pool which might’ve been a lake once. There was a swing, which would’ve been better if it hung from a tree.There were beautifully cut plants, which would look their best naturally.There were fences, without which there would’ve been no restrictions for the beauty of nature. And then I get the point of all of it, and I confidently replied to the question, “Dude, you see everything is a cycle. The seasons, the time, the sun and the moon. And so is The Human Thinking. Initially we lived in jungles. We turn our backs to them, we move to ‘Civilized Towns’. And now, we are heading to our jungles again, in a swankier manner though. We are Retreating to our origin.” Still, the question nudges me. And I still hunt for the permanent answer.
